Last week’s Passenger Terminal EXPO & CONFERENCE in Amsterdam was the opportunity to meet again with the former co-Chairs of IATA’s Simplifying the Business program (2004-2018), Glenn Morgan and Rob Broere.

Eric, Rob and Glenn
If I had to pick 10 StB projects (not sure where the full list is) that have changed or will change the air travel experience:
???? e-ticket: replaced paper airline tickets by electronic tickets
???? EMD: replaced miscellaneous paper documents by an electronic document for ancillaries
???? New Distribution Capability (NDC): enabled travel agents to access airline content via standard APIs ????
???? ONE Order: will replace PNR, e-ticket and EMD by an airline Order
???? Dynamic Offers: will replace fare filing by offer creation with continuous pricing and dynamic bundling
???? 2D barcode boarding pass: replaced paper boarding passes by 2D barcodes (also called QR codes) on mobile phones ????
???? CUSS kiosks: introduced shared airline self-service kiosks
???? Fast Travel: introduced more self-service options for passengers, e.g. doc checks
???? One ID: introduced a digital ID standard to streamline the passenger experience at the airport
???? Aviation Industry Data Model: introduced an open data model from which to create all industry data exchange standards

In the absence of an industry program focusing on the end-to-end traveler experience we can all check out:
???? The projects listed above that are still running
???? Programs led by other consortiums with a similar purpose
???? New initiatives aiming at disrupting the ecosystem with new tech, e.g. AI and web3

Stay tuned and see you again soon.
